This entry portico was badly water damaged. The facia, soffits, and colums were all irrepairable. Because the previous columns were so extensively rotted, the choice was made to use fiberglass composite columns as their replacements. The soffits and facia were then replaced to match with rot resistant cedar and the railing was removed and refinished.

This customer was concerned to find a leak in their entryway closet. Rather than just patch the roof and replace the plaster in the closet, Knutson Carpentry kept searching until all the hidden damage was discovered. Water had been passing underneath the customer's siding and had rotted away the home's sheeting. First, Knutson Carpentry replaced all the damaged sheeting on the house and on the roof as well as a rafter, and a portion of the wall. The home's soffits were then rebuilt with rot resistant cedar. Finally, Knutson Carpentry covered the walls and weatherized the roof with ice and water shield before replacing the siding and matching the shingles.

This 1915 federal entry was badly rotted by moisture. Knutson Carpentry was able to remove the rotted wood and rebuild the joists. Then it was our pleasure to cut soffits, facia and trim to wrap around the entry. The job was finished only when the original custom made rain gutter, which had been carefully removed and set aside, was replaced and painted.

The appeal of this St. Paul Georgian style home was greatly diminished by some unfortunate remuddling over the years. The first step in its recovery was to improve the main entrance by creating this period portico.
